What would a Manchester derby combined team look like?
For the goalkeeping position, apart from a small blip last year, David De Gea has consistently been one of the EPL’s best goalkeepers for the last decade. He makes the draft ahead of Ederson or Bravo.
Manchester City have an amazing squad depth and yet the absence of Aymeric Laporte has been painfully felt by the reigning champions. Laporte brings stability and robustness to Pep’s defense. Kyle Walker is another mainstay of the City defense which won the title last season. Benjamin Mendy could have been picked but the Frenchman is more often injured than not.
From the red side of town, Harry Maguire makes the cut. Even if his team has not been doing so well point-wise, “Slabhead” is one of the best defenders in the league.
Scott Mctominay has shown his worth this season. He has bullied other midfielders in every single game he has played and while his teammates around him have been under-performing. He’s proving to be an effective protection for defenders while also having the ability to help with the offensive aspect of the game as well.
The rest of the midfield if pretty straightforward. The inclusion of Sterling, De Bruyne and the two Silvas are included needs no justification.
Upfront, the EPL’s best striker in the last decade, Sergio Aguero leads the line alongside Marcus Rashford, who with 11 goals in his last 12 games, is in the form of his life.
