Congratulations to Arsene Wenger on becoming FIFA’s new Chief of Global Football Development! I could not think of a better person to take on that role.
Wenger will be chiefly responsible for overseeing and driving the growth and development of the sport for both men and women around the world. He will also be the leading authority on technical matters, both as a member of the Football and Technical Advisory Panels involved in The IFAB’s review and decision-making process on potential changes to the Laws of the Game, and as chairman of the FIFA Technical Study Group, which has conducted the technical analysis of FIFA tournaments since 1966. – Source: FIFA
Having a highly intelligent, experienced, respected, honest and football-savvy person in such a senior role at FIFA shows that the organization, which until recently was embroiled in corruption and incompetence scandals, is trying to improve it’s staff and reputation.
Arsene Wenger left Arsenal in 2018, having won 3 Premier Leagues, 7 FA Cups, 3 Premier League Manager of the Season awards and one Champions League runner-up medal.
