The Premier League is back and it could have gone any better for Liverpool and Manchester City, who were back with a bang! In the first game of the season, Liverpool were up 4-0 by half time. City decided to better Liverpool’s results and annihilated West Ham 0-5. If this is any indication of the season ahead, then we should have a very similar, titillating title race between the two teams like we had last year.

Liverpool were up against new boys Norwich City, who Klopp later described as “cheeky as hell”. While Liverpool went 4-0 up quite rapidly, Norwich did not give up and troubled the LFC defense more than once, eventually breaching it in the second half, courtesy of Teamu Pukki. The only negative for LFC was goalkeepers Alisson’s injury.
In the Champions’ first game, they ran riot against West Ham in a game where VAR was heavily involved. Raheem Sterling got a hatrick, much to the delight of Fantasy Premier League managers who captained him. Aguero and Gabriel Jesus were also on the scoresheet and Mahrez was involved directly or indirectly in all five goals. Overall, Guardiola will be happy with his attackers.

Tottenham had to fight hard to beat Aston Villa, with an early McGinn goal surprising them. New boy Tanguy Ndombele leveled the score and captain Harry Kane scored a double towards the end of the game to get the three points.
In the other games, Brighton shockingly defeated Watford 3-0 away from home. Burnley dispatched Southampton, who continue on their last season’s bad form, by the same score. Palace and Everton canceled themselves out in a scoreless draw. Newle promoted Sheffield United impressed in a 1-1 draw against Bournemouth, where the former played with most of the players who got them promoted.
