While Ozil has endured a lot of criticism from fans and pundits on the pitch recently, off the pitch the German world champion has shown his true class. Ozil and his wife will pay for surgeries for 1000 children as part of their wedding celebrations. The newly wed couple will do so via BigShoe, a charity that helps underprivileged children with surgeries.
This is not the first time Ozil has shown such generosity. In 2014, while in Brazil for the World Cup, he paid for surgeries for 23 Brazilian kids via the same charitable organization.
There is so much money in the world of football nowadays and as players and managers put their fortunes towards good causes in the world, we will see the impact of football in everyday life.
Congratulations of your wedding, Mezut! And thank you for the great gesture.
