EPL Fantasy Football Must-Have players

We have had only four game weeks so far but already some must-have players have made their mark in the EPL.

Benjamin Mendy (6.3m)

After playing brilliantly as a left wing back for Guardiola’s team last season in a 3-5-2, Mendy suffered from an injury which would rule him out for the rest of the season and only get him a place on the bench for the World Cup. Mendy has begun this season in a fantastic manner, racking up multiple assists. He looks as dangerous as ever on that left flank and can be expected to come up with more assists, especially in a ManCity team which plays free-flowing attacking football.

Marcos Alonso (6.8m)

Another left-back which everybody should have in their team is Marcos Alonso. The Spaniard has already racked up a massive 44 points! That’s an average of 11 points per gameweek. Mauricio Sarri is bringing a more offensive, silky football than his predecessors (Mourinho, Conte) and Alonso should thrive in the new system. It also does not hurt that the left-back can shoot brilliant free-kicks.

Sergio Aguero (11.1m)

The Argentine forward looks as sharp as he has ever been, after an early exit from the World Cup, where he did not play as much as he would like. Maybe he has a point to prove, with Jesus breathing down his neck and Sampaoli snubbing him at the World Cup. Those who captained him in Gameweek 2 racked a massive 40 points. We can expect a few more of those high scoring gameweeks this season from Sergio. There is a slight chance he’s benched by Pep this season from time to time so pick a solid vice captain when captaining Aguero. The next 2 picks are also good candidates for captainship or vice-captainship.

Sadio Mane (9.7m)

Before the start of the season, I asked a Liverpool fan, a friend of mine who has tremendous knowledge of the game, which Liverpool player I should pick this season. He mentioned Sadio Mane’s name, ahead of Salah and Firmino. So far, I have obtained 39 points from 4 gameweeks with Mane. Can’t complain. Expect the Senegalese winger to bang in the goals and assists this season.

Eden Hazard (10.6m)

Hazard will be another player to benefit from Sarri’s new system at Chelsea. He played a bit-part role in the first 2 games and won only 4 points per game. In the next 2 games, he brought in 8 and then 11 points. We can expect the Belgian magician to keep turning up for his team. He has only 2 years left on his contract and will want to be in a position to join Real Madrid or obtain a bumper deal from Chelsea come the end of this season. Performance will need to be top-notch for the former to happen.

Others

Plenty of other players worth mentioning:

  • Romelu Lukaku should be back in the goals in a favorable run for ManUtd.
  • Kieran Trippier has excelled at right-back and can also take mean free-kicks.
  • Raheem Sterling can be expected to bring in more goals for Pep’s side.
  • We can ofcourse never write off Harry Kane but teammate Lucas Moura could also be a good option after he won Player of the Month.
  • After Mendy and Alonso, another left-back who will be decisive is Andrew Robertson.
  • One of Aubameyang or Lacazette. Arsenal have a favorable run coming up.
